I was in my LFS and I noticed these tiny little plastic boxes that they promote for keeping beta's. I picked up 2 of them, not for Beta keeping but for "reduced stress" capture of fishies. Put it in your tank and get your fish inside and move the open end against the glass. Slowly slide the box up the side and out of the tank. Fishie is now in a decent supply of his tank water and you didnt touch with a net.

A word of caution though, be careful not to pinch the fins. Obviously this method will only work with a smaller sized fish but if you dont like netting, this is another option for those cruel Beta rigs.

If their too big to catch in a cup I wash my hands with a mild soap and use them. My hands are much more sensitive than a net.

Yah for the big fish I catch them in my hands (ever tried netting a fish with a 12 inch tail? it ain't pretty) I use the Betta hexes for the smaller fish. Actually I use betta hexes for everything, acclimatising fish, mixing salt, moving small amounts of water, defrosting frozen food etc, I use them so much I ended up buying 4 more, LOL those tiny things are useful for something at least.
