I think he's a Bora Bora Rasbora. I don't know. I don't even know if this is the right place for this but I just noticed like a second ago he's acting weird. His head is bent to one side and his head is twitching. His whole body is like shivering. But it's mostly his head that that is twitching. It's weird. He isn't hanging out with his two new friends as closely as he normally does.

Ehh, I just netted him and looked at him (holding the net in the water) and he doesn't have much fight in him at all. His head and basically front half have a reddish pink tinge to it, like theres blood on the inside in places it shouldn't be... I have a weird feeling for some reason that he's gonna kick the bucket sometime tonight or tomorrow. This is odd...

It's a long shot but if anyone can help him out... let me know. Poor thing sad.gif He just started getting his color back too with his new friends and the proper food made for him... Aww, I feel bad now that he might snuff it!!

I love rasboras!! I'm sorry yours isn't feeling well. When you see that redness, it's usually a result of internal hemorrhage and there's not much that can be done about it. If the new fish wasn't quarantined, keep an eye on your other healthy ones (this is the new one, right?) and make sure they are okay. Twitching often is from parasites, but it can have other causes, too.

I saw that with a beautiful blue chichlid at wallyworld, his whole body was shaking

I had a fish do this and it died shortly there after. I was stumped as to what happened to it so I dissected it, scoped some things and found some pretty yucky things going on. It was infected with worms, the liver looked like it had been damaged, and it had a really bad bacterial infection.

Sorry I know that doesn't make you feel any better.

The reddish pink tinge seems to be gone. He LOOKS a little healthier today but he's still jerking his head around... Almost like there might be something irritating him. I would think if he had something stuck in his mouth that he would have snuffed it already because he wouldn't be able to breathe right? Could it be a bug he's caught? I threw in some parasite tabs last night so maybe I'll water change those out and put in some salt... He seems to be pooping normal. I kept him in a breeder basket all night (expecting him to pass and didn't want the goldfish to start abusing his body!) but I think I won't use that anymore...

Can other fish catch all the same diseases as goldfish? The more I watch him shake his head around the more I think it has something to do with his gills...

Stick is much better it seems. I water changed out all the Parasite Clear and put in salt. He looks a little ravaged and thin but other than that he's nearly fine. He just started eating a little again, and he's hanging out with his 2 buddies more and more. smile.gif
