I was in my room, watching my fish after I fed them as usual, and Nemo was chasing a piece of food and it got sucked into the filter and he started attacking the filter!! It was hilarious! now he gets his food MUCH faster!

DANiELLE
Aug 10 2007, 11:30 AM
whats dropsy?? ive never heard of that. OH and since ur replying to this, how do you get videos on here?? or on photobucket??
Shamu23
Aug 10 2007, 05:23 PM
upload the video on ur computer. Sign up for photobucket and log into ur account. U have the option to upload up to 3 pics, above that u can choose wether u wanna upload pics or movies. hope this helps.
Dropsy is a disease with a very high mortality rate. It makes the fish's scales stand out so that it looks like a pinecone. Im guessing its because of hollow ornaments in my tank, I almost killed myslef when I found out, thats probably how Cinnamon my best friend ever died too, this could have been prevented if I wouldnt have had those ornaments
DANiELLE
Aug 10 2007, 06:15 PM
im going to try to get a video on here.... what do the ornaments have to do with that?? like the paint?? sorry, i ask a lot of questions. thats how i learn!
Shamu23
Aug 10 2007, 06:18 PM
if the ornaments are hollow the water inside will become stale and that where bacteria will breed and they'll attack ur fish, I wish I would have know earlier
DANiELLE
Aug 10 2007, 06:22 PM
wow, im not getting ornaments ever again! i have this little cave thing in with my tropicals, is that bad?? it has like 7 wholes though!
Shamu23
Aug 11 2007, 05:49 PM
I guess it'll be ok, its not as bad with tropicals
DANiELLE
Aug 11 2007, 07:53 PM
whew! ok good!
Saiyori
Aug 13 2007, 09:15 PM
Oh, wow, I had no idea about the ornaments....I have a vase that's full of holes for the fish to swim in and out of (morgan loves it).......Im sorry you lost yours to dropsy (is there a way to treat it?)
I hope you get the vid up, but meanwhile, can we see more pics of neeeeemo?
Shamu23
Aug 14 2007, 07:35 AM
well, there are ways to treat it but only if u start treatment when they're not fully pineconed, once they're fully pineconed there's nothing u can do to save them. I did start treatment on Bubbles when he wasnt fully pineconed, but it wasnt enough, he was getting better, he was almost through it when he suddenly died
DANiELLE
Aug 14 2007, 08:21 PM
Im sorry =[

oh and i made another video of the fishies but just dont turn ur sound on! lol my friend and i were goofing around!
Peaches
Aug 15 2007, 06:13 PM
your fish looks nice.
As for dropsy, It is almost deadly for ANY fish(tropical, coldwater, ect). There are ways to treat it. i have had 2 fish that have survived full blown dropsy. A fish that wont eat when it is sick will mostly die. The fish that have survived have eaten. when they eat, i can give them medicated food. the ones that didnt eat have all died.

Aug 15 2007, 06:24 PM
Yikes!

I'm glad I've never had to deal with that! I'm sorry for bubbles, shamu.

Shamu23
Aug 15 2007, 06:27 PM
thanks, I was feeding him medicated food too, but he wasnt eating enough of it, just one tiny piece a day, and I used maracyn 2, it didnt work though, at least he's done suffering and i've learned my lesson about hollow ornaments
DANiELLE

Saiyori
Aug 17 2007, 07:51 PM
I LOVE sushi, but not most other fish............just think though, most of those fish are raised in farms specifically for human consumption. So if people didn't eat fish, they nver would have had the chance to live in the first place.

How is nemo?
