Well, at PetCo I was rather disappointed. All the females were very small and... well... colourless. And I know there are colourful females out there, but there wasn't a single one there. There was however a rather eye-catching male.
He had a white body that glinted blue/green under the light, and bright red fins and tail. He also had half blue and half brown eyes. The only downside? He did look rather sickly, not moving off the bottom of the cup.
Was I worried he'd die? Yeah, but I convinced myself that at least I'd give him a good life before he died, which is much better than just letting him rot in that sad little cup, at least if I took him home there'd be a chance he'd make it. He also wasn't female... but I only wanted a female to give it a certain name, and nothing says I can't give a male fish a girl name! So I bought him! And he's now Ariana, the male crowntail betta fish.
And I love him. Plus since I added him to his tank he's been much more active, investigating every nook and cranny. Looking at Snape's tank. Snape's curious about him too but doesn't seem to aggressive, no flaring or anything.
I'll probably post pictures later. I would now but this tank doesn't have a light and it's nighttime so I don't have much light to take a picture by.
Just had to share!
