Full Version: Bristlenose Or Rubberlip In An Indoor Sarasa Comet Pond

I have a fiberglass oval bathtub that I turned into an indoor pond. Currently, there are two 4-5 inch Sarasa Comets residing. The "pond" does not have a cover, like most ponds, and while the Comets splash around a bit, they do not try to jump out. If I put a Bristlenose or Rubbernose Plec in there, would he jump out? Not being in a regular tank, I'm wondering if no cover is a safe bet in this situation. Thanks.

I personally dont think they would jump, how many gallons is ur pond?

Well, the bathtub pond is just that, so a regular size bathtub, only oval. It actually comes out to about 130 gallons or so, if I filled it to the top. I only fill it about two thirds of the way at most. That may change, as the fish grow. The tub itself is 5x3 and about 14 inches deep in all.

It sounds nice smile.gif . I once had a similar but complex pond plan with a large detached sink.

As for the plecs. They won't jump in normal conditions. Just like fish in that way. They do a funny kind of floating/gliding swim that makes them seem very unfish like but in the end they are fish. Cannot live outside the water and don't want to try!

My plecs live safely in an uncovered tank now its summer.

Very well. Thanks everyone for your replies.

Trinket, do you you have a pic of your detached sink tank? Sounds cool.

I wish it had come to fruition but sadly- another half hatched plan biggrin.gif seemed like a good idea at the time.

What kind of plecos do you want to get- ?(some can be aggressive to other fish).

I have a chinese algae eater in an open tub, he doesnt jump smile.gif

Just the one Bristlenose is all I had in mind. I really like prehistoric looking fish.

Good to hear the Algae Eater doesn't jump. wink.gif
