Alright-y. So no one told me betta were addicting. I now have an undying urge to go out and buy a second betta. I have another tank, that's somewhere between 3-5 gallons. Should I really get another betta fish? I really just want one more. Honest.

If I do though, I'm not sure if I should get another male or a female. I want another male because their tails are so big and colourful. Females can be gorgeous too but I'm not so sure I want one.
How often are females adopted? I'm only curious because if it's not very often I will of course buy/rescue one. In fact I already have a named picked out if I get a female:Ariana (yes I'm THAT much of a Harry Potter fan rolleyes.gif )

Of course, I don't want to mate them... and I'm having doubts on whether or not I should even get another one. But my empty tanks are mocking me. What should I do?

yes I would say go for it. As wether to get a male or female that is up to your personal preference. I think the males tend to get adopted more because of their beautiful tails. however a I have a female crowntail I got at petsmart that is pretty and has a beautiful tail

Thanks!
I'm still having my doubts, I don't want to end up owning dozens of bettas, but I would love to have one more. If I could pull that off.

I'll just set up the tank now and see what happens. Though I have a feeling I may be getting one tomorrow. (Don't worry, I'll fill the tank up with cycled water and a decoration from a cycled tank so whatever I decide, no fish will suffer.)

Although, I think if I do get one... I'd get a female. As long as I can find a colourful one. If not, well I'll still probably getting a female. lol. rolleyes.gif

yup you have definitely been bitten by the betta bug. Bettas are like potato chips you just can't have just one rofl3.gif

I'd wait a bit, just to make sure you can handle the extra work of another betta on top of your own. How many do you have now? If they are all males, I'd pick out a nice little female for variety smile.gif Even though you are seeding the tank with cycled water and a decoration, be sure to monitor for ammonia and nitrite just in case smile.gif

Er I actually bought another one a while ago. This makes two bettas that I own, both are male.

The one I bought just after posting this was really sickly when I first brought him home... now he's looking great! I'm so pleased and satisfied with the small, easy to manage number of two. smile.gif

I have three bettas myself and I don't think I could handle more fish than that in this time of my life smile.gif
