I don't know if this question belongs here or not but I was at a store today and saw some puffers. I wanted one but saw that they need brackish water as they grow older for their longterm health. It seems to me that it's not right for them to be in freshwater at all if they really need brackish water. My question is, how do you maintain "sort of salty" water for a fish? Would a person use the same salts and things they would on a marine aquarium to make brackish water? By the way they were Spotted Puffers I believe, and they were big! Like 2 inches.

Oh wow, thanks so much. Thats WAAAAY to complicated for my simple brain. No puffers for me! Thanks again though. Now at least I know and I'm glad I didn't just get a puffer and decide "Oh I'll figure it out!"
