I know that some goramis are nippy, but I heard that some aren't, also. I just wanted to clear the rumor up if anyone know which species, are or aren't nippy. Thanks!!

I find that all types of gouramis tend to be nippy. However, I think that dwarf gouramis are less aggressive then the larger types. I had a golden gourami once who ate an entire tankful of fish (different kinds of tetras and dwarf gouramis) in a matter of 2 days but I am sure that not all large gouramis are quite this aggressive.

Also, male gouramis tend to be more nippy with other male gouramis as opposed to other fish.

The opeline, three spot and gold are very agressive (all the same fish diffferent varyations) I just had to rehome all three was going to stick with one but he was just as bad on his own. He started attacing everything else so straight to the fish shop lol.

From what i have read the most common peaceful ones are the pearl or lace gourami's you can tell the males from the females from the chests the males have a bright red chest and the females are white. I have also heard the more rare gourami's like the licorice and chocolate can be peaceful but like i said rare....or at least uncommon.

Dwarf gouramis can be agressive but usually its because of a domminant male in the group. Sexing most gouramis is done by the dorsal fin the males are pointy and long and the females are stubby and rounded.
