I made a deal with my mother, so I might get a new 16 gallon tank soon. biggrin.gif I am going to get a pearlscale baby and I was also hoping to put 3 cories in there. If it grows up with the cories, and I provide hiding spaces for them, will this work? Since pearlscales arent exactly the biggest kinds of goldies, and since they have rather small mouths, I dont think i'd have to worry about the cories getting eaten, what do u guys think?

people do have good expericences with goldies and cories but...

I used to have a cory with my baby fantail goldfish (there were 1-2 inches)
one of the fantail nipped all of the cories fins off.
he had no dorsal or pectoral fins.

thats my bad expierence with goldies and cories
even though the fish were babies they still nipped the cory
i think whether or not goldfish harrass other fish is their personality
my other goldfish never touched the cory only the one did

pearlscales are more mellow fish
but i dunno.... im still agaisnt cories and goldies together
Warzone
just a small prob.... 16 gallons might not be enough.

I agree, avoid cories with ANY type of goldifsh, JMO though. The risk is too great, there have been horrific stories on this site of goldies getting cories stuck in their mouths - I wouldn't trust a goldfish with a cory personally. As for pearlscales and small mouths - well, only when they're babies like all goldies and they will grow, pearlscales can grow up to 6-8 inches like most fancies (6 being more likely) and as you know, they really grow in bredth too so get quite large. I acknowledge that a couple of members here have and do successfully kept the two together, but strictly speaking their needs are different and I think it's fairer to keep them apart. I think I'd stick to the pearlie in that 16 gallon smile.gif

well, I might try it with the cories, or maybe i'll just stick with the pearlie, would the tank be too small for 3 cories? I'll let u know what I decide to do.
