I've been reading some posted topics and I keep seeing "storm passed through" that does that mean?

From my understanding, it is in reference to goldfish breeding. It means that an actual rainstorm passed through the area and that will sometimes trigger spawning behavior in pond goldfish.

Yes, that's right - its the low pressure that comes with such a weather system, that will get the fish in spawning mood sometimes. It effects outdoor fish much more than indoor fish though, for obvious reasons.

So they have to have special conditions to breed?

Special conditions....eh, sometimes. Some fish are more picky than others. My pond fish will breed regardless of the conditions but some people have a lot of trouble getting theirs to breed. It depends on the individuals I guess
