So my male guppy hasn't been eating... since I bought him really, about a week ago.

I've noticed his lower lip has just turned a red so that it looks almost painted on. (A small red strip)

I've also noticed he's got a reddish U shape on one side of his body just past his anus that has a small white thing attatched to it. I'm nearly certain that this is an anchorworm but I want to be sure. I may be nothing but it seems a lot like an anchor worm.

I've got some parasite clear but I'm also fairly certain the female is pregnant and I don't want to harm her or possibly her babies by adding Parasite clear.

So I need some help and advice. smile.gif

I just found this thread and I don't know much about guppies but I didn't want to leave you unanswered.

If you suspect anchor worm, I would treat the tank. I don't know if it will hurt the babies or not, tho...

Are you able to post pics? Can you tell us more about your tank? This info would be super:

-Ammonia Level?
-Nitrite Level?
-Nitrate level?
-Ph Level, (If possible,KH and GH and chloramines)?
-Ph Level out of the Tap?
-Tank size (How many Gals) and How long has it been running?
-What is the name and size of the filter/s?
-How often do you change the water and how much?
-How many fish in the tank and their size?
-What kind of water additives or conditioners?
-Any medications added to the tank?
-Add any new fish to the tank?
-What do you feed your fish?
-Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt",
bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus?
-Any unusual behavior like staying
at the bottom, not eating, ect..?

We do need more information especially on water parameters. But you must treat the tank, if not you risk losing them. The babies should be fine. I would definitely treat with parasite clear, it is mild, it works great as well and the babies should be fine if you treat with this. I would also treat with Melafix and Primafix because it does sound like you have a bacterial problem as well. If you don't have corys or salt sensitive scaless fish I would also add salt. (1 TBS per 10 gallon of water) Keeping your water parameters stable is vital.

Melafix and Pimafix really only are useful for very mild cases of finrot and such. I would stick to the Parasite Clear and salt. The dosage for aquarium salt is 1 teaspoon per gallon. Refusing to eat is not a good sign.

How is the little guy doing?
