Sinking food, hikari lionhead. Have had too many swimbladder problems on two of my goldies with floating food.
Luke Anderson
Sinking pellets: hikari lionhead and alage wafers, progold, omega one
and flakes: omega one, tetra min, and hikari flakes, and : sanfrancisco bay brand frozen foods.

Plus all sorts of other stuff, most of it sinking.
toothless
as far as manufactured food: wardley flakes and turtle pellets

i know it sounds weird but, wardley is just about the only flakes he(3-4 year old 8-10 inch comet) likes. and he really likes turle pellets(i dont feed these much). ive tried many brands lately.
i also feed him peas, cucumber, mealworms, crickets and i might try ghost shrimp soon. yuma.gif

But my fish get a verity of foods including a new one Ghost Shrimp spit.gif

As for pellets - Hikari lionhead enhancer and Biogold, both sinking.

Then there is homemade gel food, frozen bloodworms and krill, cocktail shrimp, peas..... yuma.gif
Black oranda
Sinking, wardley's pellets they do not sink but i soak them in water before feeding.
O and don't forget tropical flacks he just loves those, and many types of fruits, ummmmm o and Algea eater disks biggrin.gif

My fishes also love algea wafer too , I just found out about that last week - they would spend hours at the bottom nipping the wafer tongue.gif
Melle
I was feeding Bio-blend, a sinking pellet, but I bought new food at the specialty store: Hikari "wheat germ". Don't know if I like the Hikari, I can't seem to get it to sink. The moors like it fine though...

koko, if you don't mind my asking, what's the smallest size goldfish you've given ghost shrimp to? Also are you worried about introducing something with a sick one, or do you keep them in another tank for a while? Just curious.
GoldfishGoddess
I feed flakes mostly.

Flakes and Pellets are two main foods people feed their goldfish. Flakes are easy to consume in their body system, as pellets are a little harder. Pellets are not so easy to digest. If you are planning to feed pellets, I would also get some flakes. As you may notice when you feed, your goldfish go crazy looking for food. They will eat the food as fast as they can. If pellets are eaten fast, your goldfish may become bloated. I would reccomend feeding a pinch or two of flakes, until your goldfish are calm and eating slowly then add a generous pinch of pellets.

This was the first time I have done this. I made sure the place I got them from was a reputable place and the tank was clean and there wasnt dead ones in the tank.
These shrimp went with my Big guys about 4-9" long fish. So they are easy to eat for them. So far I have found 3 shrimps in the tank out of 8 of them I bought ohmy.gif

You know I would've thought that they would be all gone. Most of my fish are not that large so I don't think I'm gonna try that, but thanks for the satisfying my curiosity since I had wondered about feeding ghost shrimp to my goldies for a while, just never heard of anyone who had tried it.

Ive put Ghost Shrimp in my tank and the Moors ate them. My Betta has even killed and picked at Ghost shrimp. (My Moors range in size from 2-7inches)

I'm using Tetrafin Goldmedal floating pellets. No swim bladder problems for two whole years. I don't even have to soak it.
