Anyhow, I put a philadendron in my 55g tank and my pleco, Harvey, seems to like it a little too much. On more than one occasion I've found him stuck to a leaf, happily muching away. So far he's devoured 3 whole leaves and my ammonia level goes out of whack every 2 days!
Not sure if the 2 things are related as I've been taking gravel out adding Biozyme (bacteria). If bacteria doesnt have a place to settle, does it just die off and add more ammonia to the tank?
So- should I take out the philodendron and see what happens (if its because of Harvey, he wont be eating it and therefore pooping so much)? Or should I just treat it as another re-cycling and keep changing the water (12g) every other day? If I leave it alone, will everything even out eventually?
Thanks!
