I havent posted in a long time, but wanted to share this picture with you anyhow :-)
I had noticed fry in the pond about 3-4 weeks ago - scooped 4 out but never saw eggs.
Same thing about 5 days ago - 4 fry but no eggs.
Today I finally noticed some eggs as well. My guess is they were laid today, seeing as they're all still clear and nothing to see yet. Hopefully this time the number of fry will be a bit bigger.

The eggs are on the roots of a water hyacinth and on the roots of some other plants.

Thats a fantastic photo! Its so hard to photograph those teeny eggs!

Congratulations, Lizzy - and what a good camera you got to capture those thiny little things. Watch out for some babies swimming around soon!

More eggs?Wow!!!! Koko's has had one heck of a breeding season this year. Congrats on more eggs/the great pic,and good luck with this lot of eggs.
What type of babies do you all ready have?

The camera is a new one my brother bought, Ranchugirl. I challenged him to picture those eggs, if that camera was so great ;-)

And it is definitely a fertile season, Devs, judging from all the posts!
This is the 3rd time I noticed small ones this past month, and I havent been paying so much attention to them. On top of that its cold here and I just emptied out the whole pond, scrubbed it and redone it (bad case of algae )
Apparently the fish liked it though!

This is the 4th year in row I got small ones.
The 1st year ones are now 10-15 cm and swimming in a show pond at our local outdoor pool.
The 2nd year and 3rd year ones are with friends and indoors at the pool.
And the ones from this year (3-4 weeks old) are chasing daphnia as I type.

They're all commons, shubunkins and a cross between them.
Always gives a suprise when/if they colour.

Well, its day 4 now, and the first are coming out of their egg now...amazing sight.
And there are always more than you thought :-)

Trying to get my hands on artemia eggs at the moment!!

Tough to find, hm? Well, maybe you could contact the Belgium goldfish club, the link is in the clubs page. A guy named Geert is the main guy there in ranchu breeding. Don't know how far away he would be though. Belgium and the Netherlands are neighboring countries, if I remember right....

However the north of Holland and the south of Belgium could easily be 5 hours apart...

Ordered a few sachets of artemia eggs - hopefully they arrive soon.

The ones outside have hatched as well, so there are quite a few mouths to feed now...
