Hi Guys,

I picked up 7 new cory's yesterday which will eventually go into my 2 of my 48's with 11 other cory's between them. One of the LFS employee's who is usually right or not far off said one cory per gallon but I'd like to be absolutely sure. I currently have them in a cycled 10 gallon QT and they seem to be fine, I just want to make sure the 10 gallon is okay until I can move em. If its a problem I can start up an empty 30 gallon but would rather not move them unless I have to. They are panda's and albino's.

I've looked around and forgive me if I've missed it but I'm wondering if there is a x amout of cory's per gallon rule as we have with goldies.

Thanks! biggrin.gif

I am not positive but the 1 gallon sounds close, although if a remember correctly, someone said before that cory's are messy fish (maybe not compared to GF) but I might give a little more to be on the safe side, say 1.5-2 litres. It is better to have more water than you need than not enough. I think you are fine with 7 in a 10 gallon, unless you have lots of decorations, which uses up water volume, so a 10 gallon can become an 8 gallon. Does that make sense?
I have 3 albino cory's in a 10 gallon with 5 neons, and haven't had a single issue with water quality. Just test your water parameters to make sure your levels remain good. If you start to see a problem do a water change, and if it keeps happening, then look into a bigger tank.

And congrats on the new fish!! Jig.gif
