Ok, my 29 gallon tank just finished fishless cycling yesterday and i did a water change, fixed up some ornaments etc...

So then i took out the heater in there that i had used to heat up the water because i hear that it quickens the cycling but then today, i still notice that the temp is 82 degrees F. I live in florida btw and its really hot these days ><. I read somewhere that when the temp is hot, it causes a goldfishes metabolism to quicken up and often leads to an early death. But, i put my goldfish in there anyways because it is better than my 5 gallon betta tank that i had to put Sno in because my neighbor have him to me since she was moving. So, is there any suggestions on how to lower the temp? I asked my parents to turn down the heater and they are like fine fine. But then an hour later, its mysterious up the map again at 85 krazy.gif

So, i need suggestions on how to lower temp. I want it to be around 75-78 or so bingo.gif

Oh yeah, and Sno is seems really happy in his new tank. Always swimming around the lion shaped driftwood and letting the bubblewall lift his tail biggrin.gif

a seasonal higher temp (without a heater) isnt anything to worry about.
if you really want to lower the temp safely and steadily and keep it there then you can invest in a chiller.
you can also keep an air conditioner on in the room that the tank is in.

dont try and make the water cooler yourself by adding ice cubes or cold water here and there, that will just cause too many temp flucuations which are way worse than a steady higher temp during the summer months
if your worried about oxygen you can add a few bubblers or an airstone
relax, your tank shouldnt get higher than 85...other wise dang you have a hot house! tongue.gif
