ok i have a scumsucker tropical fish and a 7" goldfish in my tank, one day my bro comes up to me and says, "You know what would be cool? if you put money like spare change in the tank as decoration, you could bleach them and clean them and stuff too". So i go and ask my mom and she says it might hurt the fish, i know that theres a lot of metal in the ocean so i was wondering mabye its perfectly fine. So i decided to ask you guys

Thanks!! smile.gif

It is poisinous to put coins in the the tank it would kill both fish. Also the goldfish are freshwater not salt water.

yes it is toxic dont do it

theres a large koi pond on display at my local garden center, above the koi pond is a large sign reading " Please do not throw coins in the pond, it is poisonous to the fish!"

yes please oh please dont put coins in a tank. The worst coin you can place in a tank is pennies, they are copper and to much copper in the tank will kill them. Other coins have a small amount of copper in them too, so please dont. sad.gif

if you want money in your tank you could put some plastic coins in there i guess if they are aquarium safe.

but never ever put real coins in your tank they are toxic to your fish

and nickles! u know what that does to people?urgh.
try using billard balls, marbles, cups and mugs. you can also try some plastic plumbing tubes.
hope that helps smile.gif
