Hello everyone,

Just calling about one of my female Tiger Barbs, she is very fat (she has been for a while) but yesterday i noticed that her em....rectal area is very red. It looks quite painful (from a human perspective anyway) It is kinda like a red ring around the opening. She seems to be fine, maybe a little weak but definately better than last night. Any suggestions?

I've had her for over a year now, shes in a 30 gal with 6 other barbs (Shes the leader of the pack) the water params are fine and she is eating i think.

Any help would be appriciated. thanks! biggrin.gif

As far as i know redness in that area can be a sign of a bacterial infection. Have you added anything new to the tank recently? It could also just a nip from one of the others all be it in an unfortunate part.

It sounds like she "MIGHT" have Septsemia which is a bacterial infection. You should treat with Melafix and Primafix combined with salt (1 TBS per 10 gallons of water.)
I would also feed her some peas as well. Is there any more redness on any parts of the body? Like Im trying said as well, she could have just got nipped by the others but if that is the cause the Melafix and Primafix will work for that as well.
