i'n thinking about building my own custom glass tank and was thinking about what i should ask for at the glasscutters, so i thought i might post this thread. all hints are appreciated, with knowledge that i plan on getting a 1meter long tank at ~200 litres. things ied like to know about:
should i ask for a glass top or get an acrilic one, and what shape and size should it be?
what type of substrate should i put in with dojo loaches an undergravel filter and goldies?(dojos need to dig and goldies like to scavenge at the substrate)
bowfront or normal front?
most importantly, how thick should the glass be, and how high should the tank be?
thanx for all who post!

I've seen a lot of awesome, informative, photo-journaled tank builds at
The Planted Tank Forum. There's a stickied build at the top of the diy section (the link I posted goes directly to the diy section), and if you browse through there are others, as well.

Another option to glass is clear arcylic panels if you are hesitant in cutting glass.
