Here's our ~30 gallon container pond which is on our terrace! We have a number of different plants, a selection of snails and two goldfish. We originally had three, but one unfortunately passed away. Last weekend, I put together a separate hospital tank for them, so that we could treat them for ick without killing the snails in the pond. They are MUCH better now (well, except for the one that died!!). But, we have to wait for a couple of weeks before reintroducing them to the pond, so the ick can clear from there. I hope that they settle back in without problems!

That's really cool! Outside container ponds are a great invention. Is that the filter I can see or an air pump? Are you doing green water?
Sorry you lost one of your fish. What kind of fish are the other 2 smile.gif ?

The fountain has a filter inside at bottom of the pond. It pumps 600 liters/hour, while the pond is 110 liters in volume. I hope that this setup is alright for the fish. Honestly, I am a huge beginner at this!!

What's "green water"? The water we use is a mixture of tap water and rain water. The tap water here in Germany doesn't have things like chlorine added to it and has a higher mineral content than US tap water, so it's easier to prepare for fish than US tap water. The past month, there has been enough rain to keep the pond level up, but it looks like we're going to have to top it off this weekend with some tap water - it's been really hot and dry for the last week.

The two surviving fish are both small plain goldfish! I'm looking forward to getting them back into the pond after their treatment is finished because they really like swimming around and hiding under the water lily and the other plants we have. smile.gif

biggrin.gif The container is actually just a preformed plastic planting/landscaping tub from the home improvement store!

Ah ha! Now I know what "green water" IS!! Yes, we have a combination of floating and underwater plants in addition to a growing snail population which is taking care of the algae that is currently growing in the pond. It seems like we've reached a nice balance where there is algae coating the inside of the container, but not so much that it is causing the water to be cloudy and green. smile.gif

That sounds great biggrin.gif Some algae is very good for your fish.
