Alright, I have one week old mollies in my baby tank right now. My platy gave birth to babies last night. The platies are about 1/2 the size of the mollies, would it be alright to put them together now, or will the mollies mess with the platies? Thanks! smile.gif

I have never had a problem with any type of babies together. They are both tropical so should eat the same thing and she require the same temps and so I think you would be alright. I have never had a problem and I have had babies almost as big as the adults and 1 day old babies and they didnt bother each other. I would try it but just watch them and make sure.

As long as the mollies cannot fit the baby platties into their mouths it should be ok. My molly and platty fry co-exsisted together just fine. They would occasionaly chase each other a bit but were too little to do much harm to the others.

Put a couple of the platty babies in with the mollies and see how they do for a few hours. If all is well then you can add the rest. Hidey spots/plants can help too.

I know their similar to guppies, which is all I have, sooo....I had one mama give birth to about 20 fry, and I put them in with month old fry...aaannd...there's only 1 left.

So, lesson learned. So long as they're close in age (by a week or two) it's fine, but any older than that, and you're going to be noticing a few fry that are fatter than others wink.gif
