I have an albino cory, and I just noticed that its front fin, right by its gills, is almost missing. All that is there on one side, is the thicker front part; the rest is almost completly missing! It used to have it. It has been really skitish lately and any noise or movement near the tank makes it go crazy and race arounf the tank like a rocket. That has been goin gon for about a week or so, but i never noticed anything wrong before, although it has been hard to get a look at it since as soon as you get close to the tank, open the lid to feed or even look in it, it swims as fast as it can to get away. I don't know how it injured itself or if I should worry about it. I have just started treating with melafix for my possibly injured neon (a different thread for that topic). What is going on? Why is it behaving like this? As far as I know it is stille ating and can obviously swim, so should I worry? What could they be injuring themselves on? I have no sharp rocks or plants or anything in the tank, and they always seem to get along and pay no attention to each other. I am confused.

One of my albino cories has the same issue only he's missing almost all his fins now! sad.gif It started when my serpae tetras nipped the cories fins so I took the serpae out. All was well until my lampeye tetra decided he didn't like the cory either and started nipping him. So I took the lampeye out, too. Now the cory is only in with another cory and zebra danios and nobody is bothering him. However, It's been a few weeks and I don't see any signs of regrowth at all. He still wriggles around fine and eats good and I don't see any sign of rot. The only bad thing is he hides more under his log decoration then he ever did before. Don't know if this helps you at all but you're not alone with this problem! ohmy.gif

Thanks for the support. I know some fish can re-grow fins, I just wasn't sure if Cories were one of them. It is still dong fine, but still really skitish, so I am making sure we don't go too close to the tank unless I have to. I have been treating one of my other fish with melafix, so I hope it helps him too.

Good luck with your cory too!
