Well some of my fish have been outside now for awhile and I took some pics today! They still seem to be loving the "Outdoors Life", and its been fun for me having them out there.

Here are some shots of them,

These next two make me smile as I thought this Crown Pearlscale would always have the slender look!
IPB Image
But, she has fattened up very nicely outside! And shes had some good wen growth going on too! I just love her look, shes round but with a very short tail!

This one really surprises me, the Redcap Oranda, top left of pic, well thats "MopTop", the tiny oranda I bought a while back that was so little, look at her and that wen growth is amazing!
IPB Image

I think being outside turns them into even bigger beggers then what they were inside. As soon as I turn off the filter, which I do when I feed them so I can make sure everyone eats, they follow me everyplace!
BeancurdTurtle
Hey, they are terrific!

The crown pearlscale just cracks me up. biggrin.gif
Peaches
Theyre all so beautiful! nice bright colors too. The pearlscale looks great! Who is the lemon head lionhead, and the lionhead with the red eyes?
glitterfish
They are just beautiful Lola! I love them all, especially the lionhead with the red eyes. heartpump.gif
Chickey
That crowned pearlie must have a cute little waddle when it swims biggrin.gif

Stunning! All of your fish are just beautiful, well fed and so healthy looking. Not a blemish anywhere. Credit to you smile.gif . Esp. love the red eye white fish too and would love another pic of him/her heartpump.gif . Your pearlscale has grown so cute and round! The little black ranchu has a good camouflage suit there. He is sweet.

They are clearly loving the big outdoors- will you ever get them to come inside ? tongue.gif

Yes, she cracks me up also, reminds me of an orange Walrus! So I have been calling her "Wally"!

QUOTE

The Lemon head Lionhead is "Sorbert" and the Red Eyed monster is "Balrog"!

QUOTE
They are just beautiful Lola

Thanks Erin, nice to see you on!

She swims very well actually, but I'm not sure how long that will last if she continues with her weight gain outside.

QUOTE

Now that could get me in trouble! Fish come in, but can never leave!

QUOTE

Thanks Imogen! I know what you mean about the black fish being in there! I have five black fish in there and it takes me forever each feeding to find them to make sure they are getting food. They blend in too well.

QUOTE
moptop is just so cute.

She is really turning into a pretty thing, But I think shes a he as he has started showing some mating behavior on some of the others.

Congrats on your plan for such a lovely huge pond! Mine is not really a pond, but a 300 gal Rubbermaid stock tank! Its set up under my patio and I have placed select fish from my tanks in it for the summer and fall. I have had so much fun with this and my fish love it.

Thanks MrB! My son bought me the 300 gal stock tank in April for Mother's Day! I set it up right away under my patio and started moving fish into over a three week period. I have 18 fish in there and will stop at that as the water stays perfect with them. They have changed in size and color in the short time they have been outside, and I hope they can stay out all summer, but I'm not sure how the temps will hold with our heat here.

Thanks Frazer!

they are beautiful and seem to love the great outdoors! With them getting so big outside what will happen when you bring them in? Will you have enough room?

Do you cover it with a net? i think I may have lost another fish in the pond to prey, I'm hoping he's hiding. We have everything to protect them but a net and I'm starting my reserch on that today.
What do you do?
vmlola
Imogen, here are a couple pics of the Red Eyed Balrog, they are from QT time in the 35 gal tub.

You can see the growth in just a couple of months,

I sure hope so! I have not taken down any of my larger tanks, they are still housing a few fish each.

QUOTE

I have not covered it yet! I have many hiding places and I think the fountain spray would scare off anything we have around here, but then if something comes onto the patio at night I have this,

and this,

OK, maybe not Ally, the Pug, but Arwen scares off everything.

Ally could care less, with her its all about "Ally"! Arwen, well be believes that the fish are there for her entertainment and to flavor her drinking water!

What are the summer temps like in Texas, Lola? Very hot I'm assuming! I'd imagine that plenty of aeration and something to provide some shade would help. It would great if they could stay out for the summer though - nice for them and you! exactly.gif

Hotter then I like! Its not so much the daytime high, which usually average high 90's-115 degrees F, but that the nights do not cool off too much and theres no shade and seldom any clouds to help soften the desert sun. Its not the same for all of Texas, El Paso being as far West TX as you can get, but there are areas to the East where they have trees and green grass and lakes, that may help cool things down a bit, where as here we have"Nothing" to help cool things down. I'm just worried that 300 gal will heat up beyond where the temp should be for the heath of my fish! I have the good size pump running the filter with the fountain and that will help with the aeration plus I'm running two large sponge filters, each with their own pump, so lots of water movement and air going into the water.
mr.fish
I love your red caps (oranda and lionhead) heartpump.gif Nice fish that you have by the way.
angelsun
VERY nice setup that you have there! They're all gorgeous but that pearlscale is just TOO cute!!

Shamu23

Wow do the fish look great. I am love with your ranchus and lionheads. I see my lemon lionhead is doing good-lol I can't wait to get my pond. I am so happy that your fish are doing so well. I hope it all works out for me as well Tell me again what you have in there for filters. I need to buy them in the next couple of weeks. Anyways more fishy pics. The water is so clear you can get really good shots. How did the fern stuff on top do it looks like they are eating it, but that would be good right. Well I hope you post a couple more pics-very nice.

I see doggie pics. Does Ally actually have a neck or am I seeing a different pug. I don't even know that dog who is that slim looking pug-lol

Side note- how do you get all the qoutes in one post Lorrie, you must be so fast. I find if I wait more than 30 secs it goes in anew post idont.gif maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Ally is looking great btw and she wouldn't scare me off, she'd get a big smooch. So would her chocolate friend biggrin.gif

I think I know what you mean Imogen - take a look at this

http://www.kokosgoldfish.invisionzone.com/...showtopic=49165

Like it says, what you do is click on the "plus qoute" tag next to the "qoute" tag (then it turns to a red negative) for all the posts you want to qoute from and then hit reply. You will then be presented with a page with everyones posts on it, all in seperate qoute brackets. Then just edit out the posts (remembering to keep all the individual qoute brackets in place). Then, just put you own comments inbetween the qouted text. It can look a little confusing, particularly if you're reply to a lot of qoutes in one post, but it's quicker then replying individually. That's how I do it anyway, there may be other ways too. Have a little experiment, but just cancel before it posts it. Does that make sense? smile.gif
vmlola
smile.gif All you do is click on "Fast Reply" at the end od the last post! You will get a small box at the bottom of the page, then you go highlight the quote you want to reply to, scroll back down to the box that opened when you hit Fast Reply and click on "Add Selected Text As Quote"! You can do it with as many quotes as you want then click on "Add Reply"! All yor quotes and replies will be together.

Thanks Shamu, she does have the golfball look.

QUOTE

They do eat some of it, its Fairy Moss, looks like Duck Weed, and it does not last, but provides some nice shade while its in there.

Yes, thats my Ally! She is looking and doing great! Alot of work, but worth every minute if it makes her feel good.

Thanks Kat, Ally is actually growing hair again, no more "Waxed" look!

Well, if the temp gets too high, the fish will come back inside for the hotter months!

Imogen, I explained about the "Fast Reply" in the post before this one.

I thought there would be more than one way to do the same thing, there tends to be with most functions on the site. I don't use the fast reply function very often, might try that too smile.gif

Arwen is a weimeraimer! She barks like a Dobie and is as brave as a mouse.
Ally has lost ten pounds in the last 10 weeks, so she is much slimmer then the pics I used to post!

Thanks so very much for the quoting explanation- biggrin.gif ! I'll try it that way.

Thanks Jim, but don't let them fool ya, they pull Graveyard Shift laying on my bed between my husband and I. I have a glass patio door in my bedroom, which is open partially for late night potty breaks, that also goes out to the patio, and on the "Chance", probably a "Fat Chance" they hear something, they will let us know.
