Full Version: What Does Eggbound Mean? Is It Bad?

Test Results for the Following:
Ammonia Level?0
Nitrite Level? 0
Nitrate level? 5
Ph Level, (If possible,KH and GH and chloramines)? 7.8 or 8(colors are hard to match)
Ph Level out of the Tap? same
Tank size (How many Gals) and How long has it been running? 46 gallons, couple of months
What is the name and size of the filter/s? AC 50, fluval 2 plus submersible(23 gallons)
How often do you change the water and how much? 20-30 percent once a week, 20-50% every second week
How many fish in the tank and their size? 3, 1-3 inches
What kind of water additives or conditioners? aquaplus, cycle
Any medications added to the tank? Melafix
Add any new fish to the tank? yes
What do you feed your fish? lots of stuff- different kinds of goldfish food, other foods, peas, lettuce
Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt",
bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus?
Any unusual behavior like staying
at the bottom, not eating, ect..? rubbing on objects

Okay so my fish were rubbing on objects so Im treating them with melafix, now yesterday I found a really long piece of fishie poop and it had bubbles in it, my red and white fantail seems a bit fatter than usual could she have eggs, she's only about 6-8 months Im guessing, is this bad? What does eggbound mean, does it just mean they have eggs, she's still so young though help! I read that they're ready to have eggs and stuff at 4 months but on this site it said 3 years, please someone help! krazy.gif

ok thanks, i've already been feeding them peas in the afternoon, and their normal food in the morning, so u dont think my fishie has eggs cause its so young?

That would be hard to say. It is often hard for me to tell when my own fish were having issues. How is the fish doing now?

he's doing better, not so fat anymore, Im fasting him right now, I also removed a sick fish from the tank

they're all doing better, but I gonna keep the sick one in qt for probably a week, just to be sure smile.gif
