Well, I got the Hikari Lionhead food today at my local Pet Club. It was $6.19 for 3.5 oz. I guess it's not too expensive considering that I paid $2.99 for 1.1 oz of O.S.I. Goldfish flake food.

However, I hear all this good stuff about Pro Gold on this forum. I couldn't find it at my local Pet Club. Should I order direct from GoldFishConnection?

Shipping is kind of high at $4.99 for the small size (8 oz) and $6.99 fpr the medium and large sizes (20 and 32 oz). Maybe, I should call up a few more local places first (?).

By the way, how long does a bag of food last? Currently, I has four small orandas and lionheads (about 1.5" from head to anus). Would a 32 oz bag of ProGold be more than a year's supply of food?

Hello.
As far as I know, Pro-gold is only available at GFC on line. I ordered the small size first - about 6 months ago and I only just finished it. I just spent $26 (inc S&H) on the 2lb bag - as Rick is selling GFC so I would order soon!

OK, I guess I'll only need to get the 8 oz bag, unless you're suggesting that we should stock up on Pro-Gold now that Rick's retiring! I'm trying to feed my fish on the light side to minimize maintenance.

By the way, how big are your four fishes?

Are the Pro-Gold pellets the same size as the Hikari Lionhead pellets? My small fish didn't have any problems eating those pellets. If anyone is feeding Hikari pellets to 1.5" fish, how many pellets would you recommend a day?

You can only get it from the Goldfishconnection site. Its great food in my opinion biggrin.gif

Hi

1 oranda is about 4 inches
1 comet about 5
1 lionhead about 2 inches
1 Moor about 4 inches

I would stock up as Rick is selling up and I have no idea where youwould get if from. ALso, the way I figure, I might as well just pay one S&H fee?

My fish were fed HIkari pellets, and had no problem moving over to the pro-gold even though the pellets are a little bigger
