smile.gif My little pond has been running for about a month now. My goldfish love it, I think they have even grown. They look wonderful.

I do however have a few questions. Since the tub gets a bit of morning sun, I have algea growing on most of the bottom. Should I just leave it there, clean off some or clean it all off?

Also, are there any bugs that I should stop, well as much as possible, from dropping into the water? I know the venomous bugs like bees, hornets, wasps and, our favorite here, the scorpion, should be avoided, but are there others? Are moths OK if they get caught in the water? And of course the mosquitos! Are they OK?

Thanks for any info. exactly.gif

Congrats on your pond. I think the goldies will fair well on most bugs and you probably just need to look out for the venamous kind as your mentioned. As far as the algae, the goldies really love it. The japanese and eastern breeders of goldfish consider green water a blessing and something to strive to obtain

Yep, the fish actually relish being able to eat "real food". Mine eat spiders (we have non-poisonous ones here), ants, pillbugs, moths, water skippers, flies, mosquitos, etc, etc. And the algae, leave it unless it's bugging you. it's good for water quality and means that you have a healthy pond! biggrin.gif

smile.gif Mine seem to like the natural life of outdoor living. They are still getting fed by me, twice a day, but smaller portions. Thanks for the info, the algea I knew was good for them but was not too sure about the type of bugs they should be dining on. They seem to be doing great on what they are getting so their diet must be right on track.
