Okay, I am inching ever closer to getting a stock tank for my yard. But i had a question how do you set up the electrical works for the filter and pump so that it is safe from the elements, when you have an above ground pond?
Any reference site would great as well, i have tried searching it but I seem to only get info for inground ponds.
Thanks in advance

First thing you want to do is check you local code regarding outdoor electrical. If you wire something up and it causes a fire or other damage, you could have some issues.
As for how to do it, its easy. Your going to want to get the grey colored "pvc" pipe. Its specifically designed for outdoor/underground use. You also need to get a GFI outlet complete with water proof cover. A 6-8 foot peice of 4x4 pressure treated lumber, Wire size according to code (normally 12 guage) wire nuts, and associated fittings.
First decide where you will be tying into your house electrical. If you have room, I would recommend adding a breaker to your breaker box and running a dedicated line.
Next, decide where you will be putting the Pond. Dig a hole about a foot and a half to 2 feet deep and put the 4x4 pressure treating timber in the hole and back fill.
Now trench a line from the post to where you will be making the electrical hookup at the house. Local code will dictate how deep to trench but normally about 16 inches. Make sure you call to find out where any utilities are buried as well.
Once your trench is dug, run your pipe and wire. When running the wire, its best to leave the spool at the house and run the cut end towards where you want to put the pond. Your going to want 3 wires in the conduit. Leave about 8 feet of wire at the bottom of the 4x4 post to give you plenty of wire to use. Now put a 90 degree elbow at the base of the 4x4 post and run another section of pipe up the post. Pre-fit your weather-proof outlet box on the post. Now run your wire up the vertical pipe and through the base of the electrical box. Wire up the GFI outlet and secure it inside the outlet cover. Use clamps to attach the pipe to the post.
For the connection to the breaker panel, If you dont have experience with that kind of work, you should hire a licensed electrician.
Hope this helps. If you have any questions just let me know.

I think it is a good thing that my husbands best friend is a professional plumber/handiguy cus I think I will need help with the wiring to the house stuff, so at least I won't have to hire someone.
