i used prazipro about 3 days ago and i noticed my basement stinking like eggs (tank is in the basement)
i figured it must be the garbage, so i threw out the garbage and sprayed air freshener.
the next day the smell was still there, i had nothing else to blame but the tank. sure enough it had an odor, not as bad as what was in the room but it def was funky.
the only thing i did different was add prazi. is it normal for prazipro to make a tank stinky?
(the tank is bare bottom)
i just did a 40% water change, im hoping this will cut the odor a bit..if not then maybe something is dead in my basement lol

some types of medications and other stuff can cause an odor but I dont know if thats the case.

-When you say stinks like eggs, -do you mean like a rotten egg smell, or a fresh egg smell....

Praziquantel is a stinky medicine, but I wouldn't say it gives off sulphur-dioxide gas smell (rotten egg gas), -have you checked your filters? -could one of them been a cannister that had been switched off for a couple of days and then turned back on without prior cleaning? -I know you said the only different thing is the prazi, but I don't think it would make your tank that stinky. Prazi is supposed to be pretty mild on the biological filter, so I can't imagine that it totally killed the bacteria to the point that the dead bacteria is producing the gas. -Have you checked your water parameters? watched your fish's behaviour, do they look stressed?

last night i found out what it was
i had a bucket of water lettuce sitting on the floor next to my tank, sorta off to the back which is why i forgot about it
well the bucket was there for about 10 days! when i dumped it out the stench nearly knocked me over lol
so it was rotting water lettuce that stunk not the prazi after all..do i win the dork #1 award??

I'm glad you worked out what it was, -can you imagine how stinky it'd've got if you didn't find it for another couple of weeks or so! Happy to hear that it's not your tank too!
