Ive only had goldfish for about a year or so but I've really read into the desieses and stuff so I'll take a stab at it. To me it looks like your fish has a blister.
Go to the website below and theres pictures of a blister and how to treat it ect.
http://www.goldfishparadise.com/forum/phpB...p=180783#180783But until you know what it is for sure you should move the fish to a hospital tank just in case. Hope this helps!

Thanks so much for giving this a look. I went to the link those photo's look a little different to me. My fish really looks like he has a pimple with a white head. I don't have a hospital tank. I have an outdoor pond. I hope it doesn't come down to that.

Thats weird, i've never seen that before, there was another thread about that i'll see if I can find it for you. If it gets worse a hosital tank might be your only option, a big tub works too.

Thank you so much for the info. I wonder if I should wait to identify it better. Will it hurt him to take the medigold if it's something different?

Thanks for all your help. Today the spots look more like the blister link you first sent me. The white head part is gone. So I think your first thought was right. I'll trust you on the medigold too since you seem to be a good Doctor! Petco carry that?

When you feed the medigold it has to be fed on its own. Adding other foods will interfere with its effectiveness.
Also wondering if thats not a little fungus spot. I think this fish is going to take some time to adjust to pond life as fancy fish are much more delicate than the shubunkins and your other pond fish. Keep a close eye on him

Shamu thanks so much for all the research you found for me. That was so nice of you to go out of your way like that.
Trinket, thanks for that info, so I should only fed the medi-gold and NO other food, or medigold in the am and maybe alittle reg food at night.

I think medigold recommends using only medigold and no other food for the duration of the course. A bit like antibiotic courses with people you are not supposed to take other meds at the same time as the antibioitics (or alchohol!) so with our fishies the meds are the food so other food would be like other meds

Very true Imo.Rick advises that the Medi-Gold be fed exclusively for at least two weeks. He said that if the fish becam constipated from it all ,that if must, you could add a pea or two into their dinner to help aid,but the fish needs to get a certain % of his body weight into his system for this food to work, and that's why we advise no other food during that time frame.

You want to feed him twice a day,as many pellets that he can eat in about a two minute time frame.
Jump Start is a great "afterwards" food, when a fish is coming off a bad illness. The probiotics in "Jump Start" will help restore the good bacteria that may have been damaged through taking meds.
