My fry will be 2 months old tomorrow and I've got some funky tailfin stuff goin' on. I have several that have double tails, but they aren't split. Is that normal? Will they split in time?

Sorry for the noob question, but I am continually discovering how clueless I am. tongue.gif

It's very normal, and no they wont split in time. Fry from a fancy goldfish spawn will have differing degrees of tail splitting from single-tail individuals all the way to fully split ones.

Im not going to do this but I was thinking what would happen if you split it yourself???

Ouch! Open the fish up to infection, stress them out... not to mention that would hurt! Definitely not a good idea I think.

Oh, Heaven's no. I wouldn't do that. I was just curious about the lack of split since I'd personally never seen a non-split tail before. I actually like them, as it's 'different' (for me, anyway).

Thanks for answering my question, D!

There is really nothing wrong with a fish that has a webbed tail - that is what its called when the tail lobes aren't split. They can be just as pretty and loved pet fish than any other, they are just gonna get a minus point if you ever wonna show the fish. But other than that - nothing wrong with it. thumbs.gif
