I just got a new AquaClear Power Filter and I set it up and ran it, but I soon discovered that my activated carbon bag was ripped, and little dots of carbon came out and the fish started eating them. Will this be hazardous to them?

If they are really tiny crumbs of charcoal it is doubtful that there is any problem. They will come out the other end. If they are larger, they are probably spitting them back out.

Activated charcoal is a time honored medical treatment for loose stools and vomiting, etc. It is not uncommon, in China, for example, to drink a slurry of charcoal for your stomach.

The charcoal should not hurt at all if they did ingest some. smile.gif

Ah that's a relief.

Thanks!
