that is so weird, i checked my post and it was here... oh well! okay i asked what temperature a betta fish is most comfortable at!

Optimal temperature is a steady temp between 77-80*F

I live in southern cali is the sun doing enough for him (he's near a window) or should i buy a heater for his water oooor should i just put warmer water(if that makes sense...lol)

Take a reading of the temperature in the afternoon and early morning. If they are both above 75*F and within a degree or two of eachother, you can probably do without a heater right now. I live in arizona so I'm in a similar situation...I do not use a heater for most of the year (water actually gets around 86*F during summer!) but I do need one for winter. If the temps are high and stable, you can probably do the same.

What Kissy said is good advice. I have two bettas. One tank is on my night stand next to the front window and the other is across the room on an end table. the one on my night stand has a heater for during the winter. I found it got too cold without it. Now that spring and summer is here I will probably unplug it till it is cold again
