Well, I thought I'd pop in a pic of the pond as it looks now, and toss up the project to be this summer... My design and all DIY!

A little over 8,000 gl's here:

The faceing block retainers:

Some of the patio bricks, these are large squares, the offset will be charcoal done in 4 small blocks:

This is only half the brick, blocks, 9 pallets, and another 9 to be delivered! ohmy.gif :

The project to be will be around 15,000 to 16,000 gls. 35 long x 15 wide x 4 1/2 to 5 ft deep. A bit of work, but I'm not exactly sure how the very top above two feet is going to work out as I'm faceing with retaining wall block, there's a small retaining wall along the left to the pond which will have a step or two up into the back yard and yes, thats a natural all year round creek that runs behind the pond!:

smile.gif Its going to be the most beautiful pond! You'll be able to charge admission for people to come in and look. Set up a coffee booth and you'll be rich!

Oh my!!! I am breathless, make sure you post pictures of the progress, it will be really neat to see how it all comes together!
swift
That is awesome! Is there a specific computer program that you used for design?
ConverseWithMyConverse
Make sure to post pictures! It is going to be gorgeous!

Thanks all, and I'll post pics as it goes! smile.gif I'm anxiouse to get started actually! Just waiting for the weather to finish up doing the rain thing here!

Swift, I used paint shop pro 7, have had it for a few years now. Nice program and cheap enough! smile.gif would like to upgrade, think its on 12 now.

AHA - the first truckload has arrived! happydance.gif That is going to be one neat picture documentary. Make sure you include all the tools and heavy machinery - I bet you need a ton of those to dig out the whole and such.
How are you planning on doing the final coat on the pond surface? Trying that new spray-on stuff, of which of course I have forgotten the name?
Tamianth
No Andrea, I bought 45 ml epdm and the underlayment. (2 new tsurumi pumps also) The *ouch* was spent for the most of it last summer, so we only have that second truck to get and the Backhoe.

We moved the water lines in to house, got hung up and had to re-do under the house as well. Old house and anchient doings had lines going in and out through foundation, under the carport cement and through foundation in front.... Quiet the shock, but a good laugh later!

Then the septic leech line went south and so did the bank account. Found the anchient set up actually had a piece of old culvert as a drop box... blink.gif that had rusted through and the line sank causeing everything to back up! wall.gif Needless to say, by the time all was said and done, winter hit! Boo hiss... so this was delayed!

We are looking at actually starting the project in around 3-4 weeks now. I'm picking up a second stock tank, my pond UV bio filters can be run independently off smaller pumps (already sitting here ready to go) this next week. Already got some kiddie snap lock pools for the plants too!

Its been a loonggg winter, and I'm anxiouse to get on this!

Yeah, nothing better than a neat project after all the ice has melted! thumbsup.gif
But boy, wha a mess with the piping and such! A friend of ours had that same problem years ago, and all the plumbing under the house had to be redone. It was a mess indeed, and they couldn't live in their house for over a month, until all was done. Nothing worked - no toilet, no running water, nothing. Not my idea of a fun project. I hate the ones that sneak up on you and you don't have a choice but to do them. I'd rather build a pond! rofl2.gif
How long have you estimated that it will take? All the koi are housed in the stock tanks temporarily? I have seen the one you have, with the fountain in it. Looks great, even as just a temporary home.
mislam
Wow ! That is an elaborate plan. With all that space you can turn it into a Japanese garden ! Good luck, there is a long journey ahead for you but I am sure end will be very rewarding. Keep us posted..

Andrea I just picked up a second round stock tank, 300 gl's. I will divide the fish between the two. 4 smallest ones to the 300 and the larger ones to the 750. They'll be hooked up to the pond filters there. Probably a good 2 month's easy. Got to pour a base and set the first row of re-bar, then start the blocks. I'm thinking the pond won't be habitable for at least 3 month's. After the liner is in, it needs to be going through a PP treatment, then run for a couple of weeks. I'll be seeding the filters etc before I add the fish back in.

My smallest koi are 2-8", then the 10 1/2 and I'll probably put in the smallest of my yamabuki's. So they would average around a 100 gl! Got my 100 gl stock tank and two kiddies snap locks to house the pond plants and will probably pick up another small pool as well. Those are cheap and quick to set up. I should be good to go now! fishpond.gif

Thank you Mislam! smile.gif
