Well, our noble (albeit chubby) Charlie Parker has died. It happened last week, i turned on the lights in the morning and he was laying at the bottom, bent backwards in an arc. We fished him out, and had a good look, and other that the belly he's been sporting for a long time now, he looked totally normal. My husband thought we should have performed an autopsy, but i just couldn't. And i thought it might upset the kids as well. My little girl (it was her fish) was just heartbroken. I let her do the honours of flushing, and she just broke down and cried in my arms. But once she got it out of her system, she's ben fine ever since.

Well charlie, i don't know how or why, but we'll miss your stately command of your tank, and your greaceful ways. I'll miss your head wagging food begging, and you're dear old grumpy face. You were gorgeous, and we'll never forget you.

We've put guppies in Charlie's old tank, and not suprisingly, my little girl has named them all "Charlie Parkers". Just so we'll never forget.

Oh no.. not Charlie Parker I'm just sooo sorry you lost him Dana. I know he was special to your whole family. You had some tough times with him in the past and sometimes that takes it toll. I just wanted to say that I remember well how commited and determined you were to getting him better after he was poorly that time. You did everything you could to provide him with a good home and clearly he was very well loved too. Sorry again

BTW I think that is just so sweet the way your daughter has called the guppies "Charlie Parker's" in memory of him - lovely!

Oh - i forgot to say, that there was one female guppy - we've named her Ella Fitzgerald, so the whole tank is reffered to as "Ella Fitzgerald and the Charlie Parkers" We love it - i'm glad you do too.

Oh Dana so sorry to hear about Charlie. I kow you loved him and took great care of him.

Oh, I'm sorry about Charlie--what a shame! I haven't lost a betta yet and am not looking forward to it. They are all so special and I love their personalities. Don't know anything much about guppies but hope it works out for you all.

So sorry dana, Charlie Parker was pretty famous & special round here as well as at your home and I know how sad you must feel . Rest in peace Charlie

I'm so sorry for you loss. I lost Buster recently, literally LOST him (can't even find the body...I think he became kitty food). I don't post in here often but I browse a lot and Charlie Parker was so pretty. It's good that your little girl isn't still taking it too hard, there's nothing like losing a pet when you're little.

Oh I am so sorry to hear you lost Charlie Parker. Your posts about my little buddy Charlie were what I looked forward to. I am sorry he is gone. Charlie would be proud to know he has a whole tank of followers and that Ella Fitzgerald lives there too.

Thanks so much Bettaqueen - you were such a big help to us when CP had finrot, and i've always really appreciated your wisdom. Alls well that ends well. I'm sure we'll have another betta someday, and everything that we learned with Charlie will help us do an even better job then. Thanks for your support.

Yes Mr.B is so nice and so helpful with his advice. he really helped me out when I first started keeping bettas with all his freindly good advice. I am sorry you could not save Charlie Parker.
