I want to swap out my bubbles wands with two 10" airstones and I want to run only one airline tube. All I have on hand is a brass T-valve to connect them with. I know lead is inert and not harmful, but I'm not sure about brass. Does anyone know?

TIA!

I also have a couple of those T-valves, purchased from an lfs, and in the past used them in my goldfish tank. It didn't affect the fish at all, that I could see, although after a while the valves did tarnish. I think if I ever used T-valves in the tank again I would prefer the plastic ones, just to be sure, but in my experience the brass ones didn't cause any problems. smile.gif

Thanks for the reply, SnBMeg. I won't be able to get the LFS until Monday to get a plastic T-valve, but I really want to change out my bubble wands today or tomorrow. They are embedded with that nasty brown algae and I want them gone. exactly.gif

I'm guessing it won't hurt my gf to have the brass one in for just a couple of days? Or, I could just be patient and wait until Monday. crazy.gif

IT is not good to have brass in the water, itself. It is not reccommended for it may leach out some zinc and copper into the water. For a day or so, it would probably be ok, but I would not do it as a long term thing.

Thanks for replying, Daryl. I decided to just wait until I get the plastic valve. I'm having enough problems without adding more.
