I bought him at petsmart today . I went there for water conditioner, and came home with this little guy. He was in the assorted fantails tank, so he was only like $2.37 But he was the only one like him in the tank, he is really dark and kind of has telescope eyes. Could he grow up to be a black moor? or maybe one of his parents was a moore? And i named him Pumpkin. Its strange tho, I usually don't like moores because they remind me of hammerhead sharks, but i thought this little guy was adorable. :]

So, hes really scared, and he tries to hide behind the bubbler airstone thing. Hes getting a little mor ecomfortable now tho. He is so small, like his body is less than an inch. So right now he is in my 2.5 gallon. (i thought it was a 2 gallon, but i read the box and its 2.5!!!)

Does anyone else think he might get more noticable black moor type of eyes, or no?

I think that might just be wishful thinking : ) He looks like a nice fantail to me.

I bought my black moore very young (he was maybe two inches including tail) and his eyes were very obviously popped out, as you can see in my signature.

Actually you can't see it very well in my sig at all, BUT his eyes were almost complete balls stick out the side of his head. Very noticeable.

Sure, i will go get some more. Because if you look at him, you can tell that his eyes do stick out a lot. Not like any of the other fantails that were in there with him. And his mouth is mouth and face is different from the other fan tails too!

Yep, he definitely has telescope eyes....as light as he is, I'm going to guess that he may not keep his black, but he's still a nice telescope

AWW THANKS! I'm so excited. I thought he was pretty special compared to the other fish. But is his dark color going to go away? Like is it possible for him to turn white or something? or just get lighter? I've never had a telescope before!!! Hes still so small, I <3 Him.

No joke, once hes bigger and if he/she? has babies with one of my other fish, i swear i will give them away to you guys, since if it weren't for all you, my fish would all be dead, no joke.

BTW, you might want to remove a little gravel, it looks pretty deep and a lot of crud can get trapped in there.

I agree with the others - he looks like a telescope and there is no way of knowing what color he will end up. That should be fun to watch any changes he goes through. My oldest gf is an orange telescope and he's a real lovey.

Congrats on your He really is quite handsome. Makes me really, really hope I get another telescope out of my fry.

Ok thanks! I will go move out some of the gravel, its like 2 inches thick. lol. Yep lisa, You sure did. lol. But its ok. The only thing is the poor little guy isn't moving much, and hes afraid of me, and i'm worried because he doesn't want to eat...

lol, its ok. in the first pictures i couldn't get a good angle on him. His eyes are not huge like most of the telescopes that i have seen, so i'm guessing that they won't get huge? Or do they continue to get a lot more developed and round and big as he gets older?

My moor had pretty round eyes when we got him, I do not think they have gotten larger or more protruding as he has grown. I think your little one has a good chance of going gold as it gets bigger, but you never know. I have heard that black fish with a lot of gold showing often change colors as they grow, as gold is a more dominate color than black.

Thank you so much! I love him the way he is right now, But if he changes, thats ok too. He's been getting a lot more social and doesn't hide anymore when i go near him. My 10 month old daughter LOVES him. My daughter has an OBSESSION with my fish, she loves to watch them.
