Ok, so I got 4 15 inch subwoofers recently. each 400 watts @ 4 ohms. So then i was thinking about how this could stress out my fish, ect. Then i wondered if too much sound could kill a fish. If so, at how many DB's My room is only 100 square feet or 900 cubic feet. (I know, its crazy, but the speakers were free)

How often will you be using those speakers?

I don ot know about your fish, but you are going to be deaf. Then you will be paying me money for your hearing aids - allowing me to buy more fish. Thanks.

Actually, the sound goes through the water as vibrations. The rate of the vibrations and the spread of them will not make a single concussive pulse that would "kill" the fish like a blow to the head or some such, but the constant vibrations can be extremely stressing. I would turn them down when in use - but then I am truly an old fogey that prefers quiet above all else.....

I will probally use them 4-5 times a week. but I wont always play them loud. I rarley play my exsisting system loud.

I will be a 'responsible' listener. Hearing is one thing I do not want to loose.

I am glad to "hear" that!

I am sooooo saddened by the diminished hearing that is plagueing the younger set these days..... It really makes one think.... I am supposed to have "diminished" abilities as I age, yet I hear much better than the average 24 year old!



(Don't get me wrong - there is definately a time to really ROCK the walls in music. I LOVE it. Just do it responsibly!)
