Amazon is selling a UV sterilizer (Aqua Step 25 watts) for 43 bucks. It's a very good deal for your gf... I got one for myself as well.

What size tank is this best for? Also did you read the review? Maybe its a mess up?

I read the review and the person said 90% off the real price means 90% off 140 or 43? it could be mess up or something, anyway it may really be a good deal so it would just be better if you will check it up first.(not saying it is too good to be true here ok?? haha)

Are UV sterilisers recommended? Do they harm beneficial bacteria?
Also - I think the $43 is only for the replacement bulb, and not the steriliser unit itself.

UV sterilizers are great because it gives you an edge on keeping parasites and bad bugs in check. It won't bother your beneficial bacteria because they are on your filter pads and sponges for the most part, not floating around in the water. (You wouldn't want to run your UV sterilizer if you were adding Biospira to the water because it takes a while for it to settle in and attach.)
