Was just wondering if anyone has ever tried this food (sho gold)? Right now I feed Hikari Lionhead pellets. Was just wondering what kind of response you got from your fish when feeding sho gold, and also if it works well for color and head growth the way hikari and pro-gold do?

I fed shogold for about a year before they came out with progold, i was very happy with it, except one of my fish was always floaty when fed it....

I have never fed shogold but have fed shokoi too my koi. While my fish have liked it I am concerned that the main source of protein is chicken feathers. I am not sure how the shogold is formulated but after seeing chicken feathers as a main ingredient in shokoi I no longer use it.
My advice would be don't just look at the anylasis of the food but look at what goes into the food.
If you have ever read the list of ingredients in progold or hikari lionhead you will never go back but in my experience I have had better results with progold. The fish have a much easier time digesting it.

shogold is a different formulation than shokoi smile.gif

Thanks for the input. I try to feed a varied diet to my fish. I may experiment with some to see if my fish like it.

May I suggest Bio-Gold from Marineland ? I just tried it and my fishes seem to like them a lot. Their main diet is still Pro-gold.

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually have tried bio-gold, I gave it to my first goldfish for the first 6 months I had them, they grew well on it (doubled in size Thud.gif ), and they were healthy. However I don't feed it exclusively anymore because they also lost a lot of color in those first 6 months. But then when I added progold to thier diet they got a lot of that color back ( and then some tongue.gif ), you're right though it is another good food to vary the diet with, I just wouldn't use it exclusively.
