All has gone bad in the house of lak, and due to the truly disgusting habits of my flatmates my house is infested cockroaches. I am not comfortable staying here so I don't see why I should make my betta Archimedes stay either. I am concerned about the effect of insecticides on him so have to move him to my boyfrined's asap. Got a temp plastic tank and mini heater, all fine, its the actual moving him I am concerned about. I meant to get a bag from the fish shop (you know the long ones the have) to bag him up. I have a little cooler bag thing to then put him in, but the fish shop is closed. the supermarket is still open though, would a sandwich bag/freezer bag be too small? He'll be in it for about 20-30 minutes. Alternatively I have a large, tall tuperware container (brand-new), maybe that would be better?

Do you have the next size up bag from a sandwich bag? Ive transported fish short distances in those. Double bag with tight knots or rubberbands.

I'm about to go to the supermarket now so I will see what they have got, thanks.

I have transported my bettas in a clean plastic container from the deli section of the local super market. The tall plastic ones work out great. They charge me like 20 cents for the container and lid. I then poke holes in the lid. works great and then you have the container for further moves or for when you change water

hey, sorry, been really busy.
Yeah, the move went okay. Bought some large freezer bags, double-bagged him in them and then into a cooler bag. He was only in there about 20 minutes. Set up his little tank and he seems OK. The first day or two he was being a bit sluggish so I was worried about the temperature. Got a thermometer and its steady around 77F. That's a little colder than he's used to. Normally it is 80F. He seems good now though, nice and active. He's going to be there another two weeks at least so I will have to bring over a silk plant or something for him because his little tank is bare except for a small amount of gravel and pebbles. Worried he'll get bored.
I'm changing 100 per cent of the water twice a week at the moment. I think his tank is about 2 gallons, maybe a little under. Does this sound OK? I'm not staying the same place as he is at the moment so I am having to go round there to do the water-changes and it's quite a trek from where I am staying.
On the good news front, me and archimedes will be moving to a new place in two weeks.
On the rubbish news front, all this hassle has meant that I haven't kept my other two tanks cycling (both empty tanks) and Archimedes' filter hasn't been kept cycling either so I will have to start from scratch after finally getting all three cycled.

Hey, glad the move went OK. I changed my 2 1/2 gallon tank with my betta once per week 100% as I didnt use a filter. So it sounds like youre on track there.
That really sucks about having to start over again with the cycles. I know what a pain that is!

Whats your new place going to be like?
