My newest guy Hammy has been making nests almost continually since I got him last weekend. biggrin.gif

He looked so happy when I first brought him home and put him in a bigger bowl--he just looked around in wonder like somebody let out of jail for the first time in years.

I have pix here--the last 2 show his bubbles:

My other male, Bear has only made a nest once since I got him at Christmas and I didn't get a pic in time. sad.gif

Pretty fish! Also, is Bear actually that color of green or is he metallic? I had a blue metallic female that looked copper in all her pictures.

My betta only made a bubble nest once - the second day I had him. I destroyed it for a water change. krazy.gif

He is warm, healthy, and seems happy. He's just not too amorous I guess.

Maybe he didn't like that I destroyed his first one.

Ours make nests all the time. I think they're in competition with each other to see who can build the biggest one...

Thanks everybody! Bear's color is kind of a metallic green with blue/purplish highlights. It's really shimmery and changes depending on the light. He's pretty cool, I think. smile.gif

pretty baby. If you want you other male to make bubble nests, check out ebay and get you some indian almond leaves and put one in there with him. It puts the desire to breed in the males and he will blow bubble nest like crazy. I keep one in with Sunti all the time and also Suchin. It makes the water conditions more like their native water conditions. The ial fall off trees and into the water and put out tannins which are beneficial to the bettas color and health as well.
