I finally bought a snail, I think that it may be a female Pomacea bridgesii, the shell is a bit scarred but the blue-gray color is pretty. This is my first snail and I have a few questions.

Will it need to be quarantined?

Will it eat live aquatic plants? I have read that P. bridgesii will not, but I am still worried about the plants in my tank.

Are there any fruits and vegetables that snails particularly like?

It is only about an inch long, how big can I expect it to get?

Congrats! Do you know what color it is? Picus!!

Some quarantine snails but I don't. I'm a risk taker. rolleyes.gif

Mine doesn't eat the plants but she climbs on them. Or she trys to but most of the plants are to weak to hold her up.

I feed mine lettuce, carrot leaves, and celery leaves. I boil them all first. I also feed fish flakes and alga wafers.

If it really is a brig then 2 inches seems to be the average. Think golfball.

How big is it? Juvies will often munch on plants, but the adults have a hard time eating anything healthy...they will take off anything that's dying though! My snailies especially enjoy spinach, romaine lettuce, green beans and dandelion greens. I also cook turnip greens and mustard greens into their cookies.

Here she is.

I am thinking of naming her Kazoo after the alien on the Flintstones cartoon (at least I think that was his name blink.gif ) .

What a cute little blue! S/he still has a bit of growing left to do, so just keep an eye on the plants and keep her well fed.
