Hi everyone smile.gif

I gave my goldies a salt dip before starting them on treatment for Ich and I was wondering, can you do the same for plecos? I searched the forum and couldn't find anything.

Thanks in advance!

Hi. Although a few have said that they've treated their tanks with a low dose of salt and they've been fine, most everything I've read or dealt with cautions you on Pleco's and salt. And personally,I would definately say no to a full salt dip on your Pleco.A low % in a body of water is one thing, but doing at least a 0.3% dip or more-which is normally recommended for Parasites ,I feel would do your Pleco in for sure.unsure.gif

It has been my experience plecos don't do well with salt. Before I knew this I killed my first bristlenose with a 0.3% concentration.

Thanks guys! No salt for Cornelius then!

Hopefully the second round of treatment will fix her. The goldies are doing fine after the first round, so *fingers crossed*
