Baryancistrus sp. doesn't sound all that bad. I was reading about them and it sounds like they are shy and don't really mind other fish(except other types of catfish). At an average of 8 inches they aren't too big either. Even the PH is similar/close to what GFs likes. It also sounds like they don't attack other fish but prefer to scavenge for food and like to use algae as a protein source. Do you think it could work?

A whole bunch of site seem to all have slightly different info, like size and temperature of tank. Here are some articles I found.

Just pondering since I saw a 4 inch one at LFS. I don't really need it nor really want it but if it would work then I might get it since I would love a pleco. I fail at rubber lips. If you can give me some experience info on keeping them alive, I would appreciate it. I've read articles but they don't really help.

Mmmm. I read about those gold nuggets and it seems they really need a huge space. Thats a recurring theme. They seem to get bigger than rubbernose (which I have) -one of those articles said 12 inches- can you accomodate that size plec? They grow fast.

I'm really just asking in case anyone else wants them or if one day I find them locally for cheap and have everything set up for them.

My tank is a 46 gallon(ah but I already have an aggressive cat). At the price my LFS sells them for I don't think I will get one. I need to save all my money for shrimps. Hmmm, I'm going to get some shrimp today so I will stop and look at the pleco to see if it is even healthy. I don't trust LFS with such a sensitive fish. Might be sick. O.O

Actually, that's probably the Scobinancistrus (Scobiancistrus?) gold-nugget pleco quoted as being a foot in length.
