I'm planning on putting my 2 red and white fantails(about 4" wiht tail) in a 30 gallong rubbermaid container with a fluval underwater filter. I'd also like to know if this would be alright to use outside in the summer as a small pond.

My fish spend the summer in a 750 gallon pond but in the winter I have them in 100 gallon Rubbermaid feeding troughs that I bought at a farm store for 59.99 each. I have 4 of them now plus a smaller 40 gallon. They are all connected via hoses and two filters. I also have many plants and grow lights. The fish are doing great in them. Good luck

The short answer, in my experience, is yes.
The trough sounds like an excellent solution. Wish I'd thought of that last year.
I wintered my koi and goldfish last year in a rubbermaid-esqe (meaning cheap) container. When filled the long sides had a tendency to bow outward. Wound up putting two of them nested with sand between them, and a wood frame around the rim for overkill. Mesh over the top. Everyone did fine, but frankly it was overloaded (with all that implies about water changes and toxin monitoring).
For several years I had an "apartment pond", based on a 3x3 foot (x1+ foot deep) plastic container; had to move guys out when they got too big, so I'd say they were doing ok...

Rubbermaid containers can definitely be used - with filter and airstone - but the larger ones have a tendency to bow out when filled.

Would one of those big storage bins taht you can buy from
wall mart for about 14$ work? to make a abive ground pond(indoor)
If so do i need to build a wooden fram around it?
Is there a chance that it will not bow?
the ones from nooppee will usually bow out so if i was
you i would do a strong frame to support the water wieght!!
