Hi everyone, I'm getting worried about my big moor George (aka my child! krazy.gif ). He had swim bladder problems years ago and he got better, but lately he's been floating fairly frequently. A lot of the time he's sort of drifting around the tank and occasionaly he's actually floating upside down. I've been taking the usual steps to help him...frequent water changes and peas, but now there's something new. His eyes are cloudy. The other two fish look fine, so I didn't really think there was a water problem. The nitrates are a little high but I just installed a new filter so I'm waiting for it to get some more bacteria build up. I've attached a picture, any suggestions would help!

smile.gif Hi Chrissy, one thing that you may want to do is increase water changes to get those params where they need to be. On a cycled tank, your readings for Ammonia and Nitrites should be 0 and Nitrates under 20 are safe.Do you have a test for Nitrates? You may also want to look into a bigger filter as you have two small ones.As your fish grow larger and produce more and more waste, those small filters may not be enough to do the job that you need them to do.(That could be a problem right now) unsure.gif I think that if you get your water params where they are pristene, your fish may not have quite the tendancy to float as much. smile.gif
I just caught that you bought a new filter, what size is it?
Unless you have recently treated these fish with Meds containing Formalin, the chance of your Fish's eyes being cloudy from poor water are 100 %

Thanks for the help! I'm glad it's water perams rather than disease. I bought a penguin 200 so hopefully that will do the job. I don't have a nitrate test kit, I guess it's time I picked on up hey?
