Ignore the white dots on his fins, not disease, just shoddy camera focusing on water marks on dirty glass!

To me he looks to have the finnage of a blackmoor and the body of a fantail.
Nice looking fish

Dustin is really cute!

I'm not real sure what he is as he looks like a combo of a couple different fish! As he gets bigger and older you should be able to tell more!

well... the black will inevitably fade and leave Dustin a solid orange. Then, he'll undoubtedly be a standard fantail, no questions.
... unless the darned thing develops a hump, in which case, he'll be a ryukin.

Thanks guys! Im actually quite chuffed you think he might be a cross between two types! I have a special fondness for mixed animals. People can be so weird about breeds. Particularly with dogs, but thats a whole other forum/story
ManYu: Think your prob right about the black. You can see the orange through it at the minute as it is! It's a shame b/c I think the black suits him.

Agree with Man Yu. A plain, run-of-the-mill fantail. But very cute

I knew these two guys, d_golem and Man Yu would know, they always know what to look for and tell what a fish is!

^you could actually put the goldfish outside in full sunlight. That practically guarantees the black will stay. However, the black will resume fading if the fish is brought back indoors.

You can also put him under planted light (Glo-lux) to retain black.

I see! Well at the minute the lighting of the tank is natural up until about 4-8pm when I switch on the tank light, after that its light thats on in the room till about 12-1 when I go to sleep. The bulb is Arcadia Freshwater.
I suppose ill just see what happens with his colouring, it only really matters to me that he is healthy.

Just re: Dustin's Blackness! I came across this picture the other day again and have noticed he already has lost some of that black like predicted. I actually hadnt noticed till I compared that pic to how he looks today
