Water Test results were all normal
15 gal
aqua clear 200
change 20% 0f water once a week
2 fish in tank, about 2 inches
- aqua plus water conditioners and some beneficial bacteria ( the name of the product has slipped my mind)
- no med's
- 1 month ago added a new fish
- On one of the oranda's there appears to be white dots on the head, not ick, they more look like pimples. There are no other dots found anywhere else on the body. Some of these dots almost seem to have scabs on them. There are no tails or anything sticking out the dots ( so i guess it is not anchor worms) are increasing in number but are only found on the head region.
-Fins are clamped but he is still eatting. Staying at the bottom of the tank. The fish is also being chased after by the other fish

Could this be an external parasite?

Welcome to the site!

I can't help much but if you give us the exact water results it will help us rule out anything water related. smile.gif

How long has this tank been running? You should have some nitrAtes if the tank is cycled.

Does it look like either of these?

If it looks like a white bruise (picture one)... it's a sign of wen growth

If it looks like a whitehead pimple (picture 2 above it's eye).. it's also a sign of wen growth

If you also look closely at the picture my oranda also has white dots on it's gill plates. Those are breeding starts.

Lots of dots.

Hopefully your's match.

Barbra44, in the picture there are white dots on the front fins of your fish, are they breeding stars too?

Licorice_44, I hope your fish is better.
Barbra44
Yes.. those are all classic signs of a healthy male fish ready for breeding smile.gif Unfortunately this big guy (about 8 inches) died on the same day my little girl was born back in Aug 2005. I miss him dearly. What a character. His name was BLUE.
