i wonder, can you feed mosquitoes to commons? i pretty sure theres no harm, but just to make sure....
my fish are in tanks
i thinking of giving it to them as little buggy "treats" as i tend to find them a lot in the house lately. it's strange, it's winter and it's warm and soggy, finding a lot of mosquitoes

My Rasbora's eat whatever bug flies into the tank, and so far nothing bad has happened besides the decreased bug population.

There is no harm in feeding your fish mosquitoes. Mosquitoes and their larva is a natural food that fish eat in the wild. It would be safer to feed adult mosquitoes that you find in the house than it would be to catch and feed mosquito larva. Because you won't have the risk of introducing water born parasites with adult mosquitoes that you would with the larva.

That reminds me, I get those stupid asian beetles, you know what I'm talkin about, they look like ladybugs, only orange instead of red. Anyway, they hibernate in my house, and wake up everynow and then to fly into my tank light. They run into it and ackwardly falls into the water where my fish try to eat it. Unfortunately, they don't fit in their mouths, so I have to dispose of them.

Friends of mine have a bug zapper hanging over their Koi pond. The fish seem to like their fresh snacks of bugs. I've always thought it was a neat idea.

Tell me how you have made a sweet omnivour love misquitoes and other insects- I tried doing something a little different like that - but Punch seemed to indicate that insects do not match up to his caliber of gourmet meals and fussy pallate-
The only exception was when I brought some plants in that gave me a small brief and manageable black snail population - every time one would crawl up the glass and I poointed it out it became a crunchy delicacy. I swear the black snail population in the tank went to zero because of his French inspired refined taste for snails.

Misquitoes and other insects are natural foods for goldfish. Since most goldfish are raised in tanks (eating flakes and pellets) they have never seen or tasted any of their natural foods. Tank raises goldfish often won't see their natural foods as food and spit it out. Sometimes it take a while to get goldfish to start eating their natural foods.

Bloodworms are any of certain bright red, segmented, aquatic worms of the phylum Annelida. Included are Tubifex worms, or sludge worms, which are used as a tropical-fish food. There are various other worms sold under the name bloodworm.

the things most commonly referred to as "Bloodworms" are actually the larvae of Chironomid midges.
