I have two bala's. I bought them for my daughter before really looking into them first. They are suppose to get pretty big and I don't know what I am going to do with these guys. Right now they are in a 10 gallon and doing great. I have never had any problems with them - they are pretty easy to keep. I am trying to find a good deal on a bigger tank for them before they get much bigger.

I read somewhere that they can grow up to 16" and they like to be in groupes. Also they like to jump, so you need to have a lid on the tank.

I am sorry ali but a 20g is just not big enough for 2 5" bala sharks.

They get m-a-s-s-i-v-e

Seriously, I wouldn't keep one in anything less than 80g. It's not just that they get big, it's also that they like to swim far and fast and when they are big (5" is big to start with) they won't be able to swim far or fast.

Don't feel too bad - I have my 2 in a 10 gallon and need to find them a new home too. They are not that big yet, but I'm sure it won't be long before they start growing.

they wont grow an awfull lot in a 10g, but as soon as u get them into something bigger, watch them growwwwwwwwwwwwww

That's a brilliant link watermama!!

Good pics and information, especially like the part about the tank size having to be 84" long! My new tank is 84US galls and it's only 60" so it just shows how big the tank has to be.
